That last one’s cool, but when I think of Blaqk Audio Davey I think of slicked back hair like in the second one, not his Decemberunderground hair. Awesome pumpkins everyone!

I’m voting for the second one, the davey with the slicked back hair and the Blaqk Audio on the side. It’s definitely the best.

ohhhh the last looks like a fake. I like the first or 5th. I dont like the ones with only Davey because Jade is a part of BA too! voting for 1st or 5th. 5th has a cool design.

The last one is fake and has been disqualified.

I like number 1 because BOTH Davey and Jade are in it, but in my opinion one with the design/BA logo should win, because I tend to look towards the musicality of the band, rather than just the people (although Davey and Jade are AMAZINGGG!) I just think BA is about ALL of us. Davey, Jade, Fans, Music… I like 3,4, or 5.
but I must say, all are AMAZING!

yeah, i agree with Lisa. Davey and Jade, we can all agree, are AMAZING, but it’s the fans who’ve brought them to where they are today. Either 3 or 5, in my opinion

I love number 5! the trees give a nice effect and the heartbeat monitor. I like the stars in number four alot too!

the light shining through pumpkin number 1 is suspicious, pumpkins are thicker than but it looks cool!

i like the clouds in number 3 and how bright black heaven is arranged, it’s a nice set up for the pumpkin. that one is by far my favorite!

Yeah I noticed how thin the pumpkin was on number 1. and how the light shined through it. I dont know. pumpkins ARE thicker.
number 3 or 5. and you’re right, Heather, when I think of Blaqk Audio, I think of all of us, the music, and THEN Davey and Jade. we are all together.
I like 3, but I like 5 more because it isnt singling out a paticular Album.

yeah.. im kinda unsure about 1, because the color make it look face, i’m just not too sure. the same thing goes for number 2, pumpkins don’t glow like that unless they’re a weird red color.

I’m between 1 and 5. The others are good, but for 3 and 4 (both of which I love) they aren’t entirely carved. It took a lot more patience and skill to entirely carve the pumpkins like 1 and 5 so you could see it light up.

yeah!! look closely at number 2!! there’s a line going through his face where it shouldn’t be!!

(whoops, at second glance, 3 IS carved. I do like that one a lot, but if I had to choose a logo one, I’d still say 5)

heather, you’re right, 2 does look fake! there is a line there!

but jenn, number 5 isn’t entirely carved, it’s just sculpted really thin. if it was carved, the logo wouldn’t be there b/c there would be nothing holding it up

Number 5 IS carved, the Logo is scracted in THIN though. I can tell because the brightness of the light changes in thinner places. I think 1 is fake to be honest because trust me, Pumpkins dont shine that bright on the inside. 3, 4, and 5 are the ones that really worked on theirs, I can tell. 2 looks drawn.
doesnt change that they all look awesome though.

The more I look at 1 the more doubtful I am. the pumpkin just doesnt look right to me… when is this over anyway? like when do they pick a winner?

yeah, i agree with you lisa, 1 is iffy with me. I can’t tell if it’s fake or not. 3,4,5 and maybe one should still be in the contest. i want to know when this is over too

two looks totally fake. like around the sideburns and facial hair, its SHADED. you cant shade a pumpkin. period. 3 and 5 look like they worked HARD. 1 is just… not right with me. the shape of the pumpkin and how the whole thing glows doesnt look right. it looks more like a chinese paper lantern to be honest.

I entered a pumpkin carving contest for my fall fair and never will do that again. its a pain! and trust me, pumpkins can be 3-4 inches thick in some places, so carving, cutting, and most of all, scratching, is PAINFUL! I thought I would have been diagnosed with Carpal Tunnel afterwards!
5. I like 3 but 5 has me. her hands must hurt! baha.

look at 1 closely… Davey’s eyelids are FLOATING. in places it looks connected, but even if it was scratched, they would look more connected with the light.

also another way of telling… 5 doesnt have that light ALL OVER the pumpkin. nothing shining through but the carvings. its the same darkness as 1 and 2 and both of theirs is lit up unnaturally. the pumpkin’s lines in 1 are almost as bright as the design.
go with what looks more real to you.

I’m nt crazy bout number 3… all are good though.

I did number 5.
I baught 3 pumpkins before I could get mine to look as good as it does, and worked pretty hard. so I’m proud of it, win or lose. =) to Lisa, yes my hands DID hurt! for about 2 days!

i made number 3. it took me two days to desgin the pattern and about 7 hours to carve it. my hands didnt hurt a WHOLE lot, but still, im proud of myself

for me, I had the design in my head immediatly. I love the look of dead trees. I started to carve it at like 11PM in my Kitchen and finished around 3AM. it was a pain to get it to light up and I froze my butt off. lol. you did a good job. my mom was about to kill be for buying so many pumpkins! I just hope Blaqk Audio gets to at least SEE mine =)

me* goodness, my keyboard is terrible. and my hands were killing me! haha! I scratched a lot of it in but it was really hard to get all the angles and stuff right.

3 looks kinda choppy-ish. idk. I dont wanna say not done good because she obviously worked hard. its alright though. I like 1 if it isnt fake. 5 if it is fake.

that’s okay. and as for katlin, i got a lot of cuts on my fingers. i had a general design in my head, but i made it on power point so i could do it. and yeah, i know it looks kinda choppy. i should’ve sent in a glowing pic of my pumpkin as well because it looked AMAZING when it was glowing at night

and i hope that blaqk audio gets to see all of ours!!! if they cant deside, i hope we both win because i like yours a lot too

to be honest, I think BOTH of ours looked better than the pictures we took (they gave no justice!) haha! mine looks sooo cool in person. and to Meloni, you should have seen my screw-up pumpkins! haha!
I honestly dont care, but its obvious Violet and I worked HARD. and you should be more careful, Violet! lol I understand the cut part, on pumpkin 2 for me I was cutting and nicked my finger =( so I scratched instead. I hope either one of us wins.

I looked at pumpkin 1 and 2 for a long time…
pumpkin 2 looks like it was drawn on paper, and photoshoped copied onto a picture of a pumpkin. really it does.
and in number 1…. notice that the pumpkin looks like its sitting on a bed or a table cloth? there are NO wrinkles or dents in the fabric under the pumpkin’s weight. it looks like its floating.
I think its a fake craft pumpkin, otherwise the light wouldnt give it that whole Globe effect.
its still cool, but not a really enough to win against the real pumpkins.

I just hope one of us does…This band has meant a lot to me for as long as its been around, and AFI has been there with me in my hard times =) and I just want them to at least see how hard we worked for them. I dont really care about winning, I had fun doing it.

yeah. im closer to your age. im an artist, and i love doing extravagant stuff with my pumpkins.i got a virus on my laptop for trying to look up complicated patterns. in the end, i did this yeah, and i saw that too int he chat box

I’m an artist also! I take local art classes and stuff. I just did mine free style. baha. I used a Rular on the logo but that was about it. I’m always doing something weird/artistic. I like to write more, though. =P

im nervous too! im actually writing a book right now, but i love drawing, especially in pencil. im mostly self taught, i’ve never had any formal art classes. i don’t count school though, b/c i’m not really taught anything there. it’s more like toning what skills you already have

I’ve always been decently good at it but I figured I should try something new, like painting, because I like using pencil and charcoal. I just read the comments. Some people are saying mine looks fake!!!
I’m not smart enough to know how to peel pumpkin skin correctly, I just slice halfway through and pull the pieces out and the lighting looks weird and uneven. BUT notice how you do not see lines from the pumpkin where a picture would have been photoshopped on. Not only that but my camera is stupid and has poor night settings, which screwed up the lighting from the pumpkin. Plus I’m not smart enough to know how to photoshop a jack-o-lantern together.
I seriously worked on this for pumpkin for hours with a lot of effort and tedious carving to get the appearance that eyelids and what not were as realistic as possible, and it really hurts to see that people think I cheated. You can go to my deviantart and see other angles of the pumpkin that prove I had to move it around and take multiple pictures of it if that makes it seem more legit to you.
Also, the table cloth does indeed have wrinkles from the pumpkin if you look closely. And in regards to how the pumpkin glows? I put two candles inside it to make sure the pattern would show up bright enough, which made the pumpkin glow more. I turned off all the lights in my kitchen to make sure I could get the most optimum luminosity.

wow, the girl who carved number 1 is insisting its real. if anyone says mine isnt carved, it is. the only thing thats sculpted/scratched is the logo.

I’ve only ever carved pumpkins for entertainment. I’m hardly a professional. The first time I ever carved something serious was last year for the Zukin contest, so I really haven’t had much practice for it, to be honest.

How do I have and advantage over others just because I’m an artist? I feel as though that’s quite an unfair accusation. It’s not like this contest excludes artists or anything. I did mine with all of my talent as well. There are plenty of people that are much much better than I that could have entered as well. I personally think everyone’s is great, and I did mine no differently than anyone else, so why would I have an advantage? It’s all pumpkins, clever designs, and carving knives no matter which entry you look at.

I figured you would take being called a proffesional a compliment. you’re most likely going to win because it IS an amazing pumpkin, and you’ve earned it.
I only said you had an advantage because you do honestly look like a proffesional. I said nothing against artists entering. if I did, please correct me when I say something in WRITING.
