Pumpkin Carving Contest

I just hope one of us does…This band has meant a lot to me for as long as its been around, and AFI has been there with me in my hard times =) and I just want them to at least see how hard we worked for them. I dont really care about winning, I had fun doing it.

we should cut the CD in half.

I KNOWWW!!!! I’m getting sooo anxious!!!! I think I’ve checked this site 10 times in the past 10 minutes, lol! I worked hard on mine too and I just hope one of us wins. I want to know who wins. =) I feel selfish for saying I hope its me, so I’m gonna say besides me, lol, I hope its Violet. winning doesnt matter much to me at this point, I just want it to be OVER! =)

How old are you, Violet?

ohhh no problem, and so am I. teenager. I dont like to put my age on here either, I was just kind of wondering because of how well you did on your pumpkin. I figured we were around the same age maybe.
I’m SO NERVOUS. and they said they are doing 1st, 2nd, and 3rd places on the chat box. but only 1st gets a prize.

I’m an artist also! I take local art classes and stuff. I just did mine free style. baha. I used a Rular on the logo but that was about it. I’m always doing something weird/artistic. I like to write more, though. =P

haha me too! I love writing stories and stuff, and I’m trying on a book. I like the strange stuff. I just have the “artistic bone” really. I’ve always been decently good at it but I figured I should try something new, like painting, because I like using pencil and charcoal. I hate painting. and thats what I’m taking classes for. and I agree with you on school.

I am too. I’m checking it constantly. I just love how this whole comment page is us talking, haha, we’re either really big losers or really big winners. =P but I dont think the other people who entered the contest are even looking anymore… its like we’re the only ones who want it enough to be paranoid.

I think I’m gonna check back in a hour. probably more like 10 minutes but I hope someone picks a winner tonight. =/

They said 1 and 2 are probabaly fake. that leaves us with 3, 4, and 5. cross your fingers!

I just read the comments. Some people are saying mine looks fake!!!
I’m not smart enough to know how to peel pumpkin skin correctly, I just slice halfway through and pull the pieces out and the lighting looks weird and uneven. BUT notice how you do not see lines from the pumpkin where a picture would have been photoshopped on. Not only that but my camera is stupid and has poor night settings, which screwed up the lighting from the pumpkin. Plus I’m not smart enough to know how to photoshop a jack-o-lantern together.
I seriously worked on this for pumpkin for hours with a lot of effort and tedious carving to get the appearance that eyelids and what not were as realistic as possible, and it really hurts to see that people think I cheated. You can go to my deviantart and see other angles of the pumpkin that prove I had to move it around and take multiple pictures of it if that makes it seem more legit to you.
Also, the table cloth does indeed have wrinkles from the pumpkin if you look closely. And in regards to how the pumpkin glows? I put two candles inside it to make sure the pattern would show up bright enough, which made the pumpkin glow more. I turned off all the lights in my kitchen to make sure I could get the most optimum luminosity.

real or not, I still think a Logo should win! Blaqk Audio is MORE than Davey and Jade! plus, I feel like no one has a chance against number 1. really.

I’ve only ever carved pumpkins for entertainment. I’m hardly a professional. The first time I ever carved something serious was last year for the Zukin contest, so I really haven’t had much practice for it, to be honest.

How do I have and advantage over others just because I’m an artist? I feel as though that’s quite an unfair accusation. It’s not like this contest excludes artists or anything. I did mine with all of my talent as well. There are plenty of people that are much much better than I that could have entered as well. I personally think everyone’s is great, and I did mine no differently than anyone else, so why would I have an advantage? It’s all pumpkins, clever designs, and carving knives no matter which entry you look at.

I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to sound so rude. I just don’t feel as if I have any advantage over anyone else here. I think everyones’ is great. Thank you very much for the compliments. I was so caught up with the other part to remember to thank you in my last comment; my sincere apologies.

sigh… oh well. perhaps one day I might get my CD signed by them in PERSON. =) good job everyone. I’m happy with what I got.
