Let me get this straight. He’s actually claiming that he never knew his account was hacked on the DF until today. Seriously.

It was reported in various online music zines, it brought hordes of old afi fans out of the woodwork from all regions of the interwebz, and the other members of the band knew about it and tweeted to reassure the fans that it was fake. Management knew, the rest of the band knew, the media knew, fans who don’t even keep up with afi anymore knew, yet somehow Davey himself never heard ANYTHING about his own account being hacked and his own band being reported as broken up until today.

Either I’m completely misunderstanding his response to that question, or he’s completely full of shit.

I don’t think he is full of shit. Davey has said multiple times he isn’t a huge internet user. It makes sense that he never heard of the issue since he rarely frequents the interweb.

But he is extremely “real life” social and has a LOT of friends who are avid internet users. If it was big enough to make it into online music zines and required a statement from management, I’m sure that at least one of his friends saw it and mentioned it to him at some point. The possibility of that not happening is virtually nil.

I doubt his friends frequent music blogs and Tumblr, though. They may have known about it, but probably didn’t mention it to him, as they assumed he already knew about it.
